A talented
designer Anna Čurlejová of Carbickova transforms colored pencils into
fanciful brooches, necklaces, and earrings. Czech Republic-based jewelry
designer does this by mixing different parts of the pencils to create dazzling,
colorful layers at the ends, however, when halved, she produce a honeycomb-like
pattern; and splitting the color pencils lengthwise makes a striped effect.
Therefore, the elements are arranged in sections, and one piece of jewelry will
repeatedly comprise multiple motifs. Once the design is finalized, Čurlejová
put on a transparent lacquer to the overall form, which sets it into place and
gives it a lustrous sheen. Thus, Čurlejová presently sells her colorful
creations through her Etsy shop. Source: My Modernmet & CP

Fascinating Photographs of Autumnal Forests by a Wandering Photographer
Well,
here is nothing quite like a long relaxing walk through the woods to
rest the mind, mostly in the crisp autumn air when the leaves have
transformed into lively variations of red and orange. A big thanks to,
photographer “Janek Sedlář” captures the philosophical exquisiteness of
the forest in its most spectacular state. The young skillful
photographer, who hails from the Czech Republic, exposes the poignant
atmosphere of the woods and meadows where he goes to seek peace.
Although he’s self-taught photographer, Sedlář had originally studied
ceramics before changing his focus. He has passed during a difficult
period of his life; he instigated to escape to the countryside of his
home region, Moravia and the White Carpathian Nature Reserve, with just
his backpack and camera.
Moreover,
on these long walks through the forest he saw actually a magnificent
nature beauty, that “words cannot convey a man must just be present to
experience the moment.” His classical photographs are best example of
his efforts to share the magnificence of the natural recluse he
observes. Sedlář thoughs, that walking through nature lets a man to
emerge with heavier legs, but a lighter mind. His captivating pictures
of the Carpathian Woods are tremendous inspiration to get outside and go
for a wander. Source: My Modernmet

Bigelow Ranch: The Strangest Place on Earth
Bigelow
Ranch is probably strangest place on earth, previously recognized as
“Skinwalker Ranch”, “Gorman Ranch”, “Haunted Ranch”, and “Sherman Ranch”. It’s
a mysterious place, where something different happens since 1950’s. Bigelow
Ranch is located in west Uintah County bordering
the Ute Indian Reservation, is 480 acre property in northwest Utah that is home
to myriad UFO sighting, animal mutilations and other strange occurrences. There
have been so many haunted locations from Stonehenge to the Tower of London to
the Bridge over River Kwai in Thailand, but never have been to a location that has
a lot of stories of paranormal phenomenon. There have been to countries that
have rare paranormal phenomenon like Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, Panama,
Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, but for some reason the stories from
Skinwalker Ranch will stay in my mind.
There’re
number of bizarre stories happened to a pair of ranchers named Terry and Gwen
Sherman after they bought it in 1994. The first day, when they moved to their
property, they saw a large wolf out in pasture. They even went to pet wolf as
it seemed tame, and it was docile with the “Shermans”, but ended up grabbing a
calf by the snout through the bars of its enclosure. However, Terry grabbed his
pistol and shot at the wolf, amazingly the bullets had no effect. It lastly
left after Terry brought out the shotgun, though even that didn’t do any real
damage. The “Shermans” tried tracking the wolf, but its tracks stopped sharply
as if it had vanished. Hence, this wasn’t the end of story. The “Shermans” were
continually plagued by such events as UFO sightings, intellectual floating orbs
including reputed to have incinerated three of their dogs, inexplicable
cryptids, and gruesome cattle mutilations. It got so bad that the “Shermans” in
fact sold their ranch to Robert Bigelow in 1996, the founder of the National
Institute for Discovery Science, who wanted to research the secrecies
surrounding the ranch. Bigelow owns the ranch to this day and NIDS keeps a
tight lid on their findings. A movie, titled “Skinwalker Ranch”, was released
in 2013, and is very loosely based on the folklore behind the ranch. Terry
Sherman claimed to have actually seen aliens come out of one UFO. Because it
was a human type, more than 7 ft tall, decked out in a fully black uniform and
very giant, very heavyset.
The Bigelow
ranch has a rich history because of the Native Americans that inhabited the
region and passed down the tales of what they saw. Therefore a family owned the
ranch at one time and had investigators come in to support them because they
were being anguished by poltergeists, shape shifters, and other forms of
paranormal harassment. Due to this family has left the ranch, and then Robert
Bigelow set up shop there for unidentified reasons. Bigelow is a famous name
because he started the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) which
finally transformed into Bigelow Aerospace (BAASS) which makes low Earth
orbiting inflatable structures. Well, there’re so many of the weird
phenomena at the ranch were detailed in the book Hunt for the Skinwalker by Colm Kelleher and George
Knapp.

Jatinga Phenomenon: The Birds Mystery Suicides Occurs Every Year
Jatinga, is an Indian village on
a ridge, is located in Dima Hasao District, Assam State, approximately 330 kilometers
south of Guwahati. Jatinga is well-known for the phenomenon of birds
"committing suicide". Even though the birds do not commit suicide and
are in fact killed, the myth of the suicides has spread far and wide among
common people. The village is inhabited by more than 2,500 Khasi-pnar tribal
people and some Dimasa people. The Jatinga village is lush green and picturesque,
beautifully surrounded by serene mountains. Nonetheless that’s not what it’s
famous for. In fact, Jatinga is well-known for a completely different reason it’s
Bird Mystery that occurs at Jatinga between September and November each year.
Although in the late monsoon
months, a huge number of migratory & local birds commit mass suicide at the
village. Just after sunset, between 7 to 10 pm. The Bird Mystery is a unique
phenomenon starts when myriads of birds descend from the sky, plummeting to their
deaths by crashing into buildings and trees. Meanwhile birds aren’t recognized
to be suicidal; the wonder has mystified villagers, tourists and scientists
alike. For many years, locals have strongly believed that evil spirits living
in the skies were in control for bringing down the birds. Yes, the phenomenon
isn’t true, because a number of scientific studies and experiments have been
concluded that the birds are usually disoriented by the monsoon fog. Hence,
they’re heavily attracted by the village lights and fly towards them, occasionally
hitting building walls and trees during the descent. Therefore, some of the
birds die, while the others are grievously injured, becoming easy prey for the
villagers to capture. These birds are often dazed and disheveled, and do not
put up any struggle when villagers attack them with catapults or bamboo sticks.
Moreover, another research also
reveals that the birds come in only from the North and land only on a
well-defined strip in the village which is about 1.5 km long and 200 meters
wide. Lights placed along the southern side of the village have failed to
attract any birds. Furthermore, the victim of birds isn’t long-distance
migrators. Almost 44 species have been recognized as “suicidal” and most of
them come from adjacent valleys and hill slopes. These include Kingfishers,
Black Bitterns, Tiger Bitterns and Pond Herons, among others. Furthermore, few
more interesting stories were identified by experts and bird watchers. They
say, most of the suicidal birds lose their natural habitats due to flooding
during the monsoon season. So they appear to be migrating to other places, and
Jatinga is in their migratory path. But it isn’t clear why the birds fly at
night, or why they get voluntarily trapped at the same place every year. It is
not suicide, to be precise but the fact remains that birds are attracted by
light and fly towards any object with a light source. This phenomenon still
puzzles bird specialists, and the problem deserves a deeper scientific study
from various angles,
The local calls this phenomenon “avian
hara-kiri” which was first observed by the Zeme Nagas, the inhabitant tribe of
the region in the early 1900s. It scared them so badly that they sold their
land to Jaintias and left the place in 1905. The new inhabitants also observed
the phenomenon, but interpreted it as a gift from God. Hence The Jaintias isn’t
entirely wrong, because the phenomenon has captured the interest of wildlife
circles and sightseers, making the village of Jatinga world famous. The birds
alone are responsible for a boost in tourism during the monsoon months. And
they’re quite delicious; locals relish these exotic delicacies. The villagers purposely
switch on lights and lanterns to attract the birds and capture them every year.
Therefore, the mystery is the main event to promote tourism; district
authorities have created a festival around the bird suicide, called the “Jatinga
Festival”, held in 2010. If you’re interested in viewing the rare phenomenon in
person, the nearest airport at the city of Guwahati is 350km away from the
village. You will have to wait until next year, though! Source: Charismatic Planet
